BurNIng and rOtk announced their retirement from playing competitive Dota 2 through Weibo.
It’s on Weibo it couldn’t be fake, so this is it guys. Another two star players from China has decided to retire from Dota 2 competitive scene. BurNIng and rOtk has both posted their announcement of retirement on Weibo. I’m not really that good on Chinese so I got a friend to help me translate BurNIng and rOtk’s post.
Below is BurNIng’s post on Weibo:
This is the English translated version of it:
Today is a very important day for me, for I have decided to bid farewell to the competitive scene.
Seven years of Dota, six years of playing professionally, experiencing countless version changes, I am very lucky to be able to get into the professional scene. Playing competitively has brought me countless glory and honour as well as achieving my goals, one after another. Dream is a luxury for most people. Never forget what your dream is until you achieve it, Even if there are some disappointments along the way. Now, I can look back on them with clear conscience that I had done everything I could.
I also have a lot of things that I would want to thank. First of, I would like to thank Dota. Dota brought me to this wonderful stage to express my inner self in a different way. Also, I would like to thank my team mates that have been there with me and my opponents, whom without, I would not be who I am. Finally I would like to thank my friends. Your encouragement gave me strength, your criticism helped me grew.
Today marks the end of my professional Dota career, and hopefully it would be a coma, not a full-stop. Last year I was asked, what my youth means to me. My answer back then was, of course, Dota. Now, even if my youth is being taken away along with my retirement, nothing will take away all those wonderful memories deep in my heart.
I will still remain in the scene after my retirement. My first step would be to stay in DK’s gaming house to teach new recruits with my experience. I would join rOtk to commentate as well as some LAN events. Friends that are interested are free to join.
And this is rOtk’s post:
After thinking for a period of time, I have decided to retire from competitive play. These four to five years of competitive gaming has made me unwell and I have been thinking of taking a rest from the competitive play for awhile now. I have been playing under team DK for three years and it has brought me happiness, success and disappointment which will remain in my tracks of youth. A year in VG has also made me realized how much I have grown as well as being more responsible. My thanks to the trust that my team and my fellow team mate has given me, you guys will always be the best! Having to be in the same team as my second son (Sylar) has given me no regrets. Shit Bun (Super) has been my team mate for four to five years, nothing could be said between us, I will never leave you. I still stand by what I said that day when we’re drinking: I’ll be there as long as you’re there. Son (Sylar), your alcoholic limits are bad, we never really did much heart-to-heart talk but its alright. I have done my best, and I wish all of us to be happy. That is the only thing that matters.
I would also like to thank this huge school, Dota. I have a lot of classmates here and I wish them all the best in their future. Next time when people asked me, I will proudly say that I graduated from Dota Institute.
Even though it’s only one year, but the five of us at VG will never forget what we had achieved. The newest competitive player (fy), champion of Rubick, you need to keep calm and gather more experience. To our best 5th player (Fenrir), you will always be 啊*a* K to me, your selfless contribution to the team has led us to plenty victories. To the world’s best second position player, there are just too much heroes that you can play with such high skill. The best Morphling player 刘J, you have always been calm and stable in your plays, I hope that in the future you would play more aggressively. My senior ‘hunter’, lao秀米*xiu mi*, 毛*mao*18, and all those in the team, I wish all of you all the best.
And also my former team mates 毛牛*mao niu*, 龙狗*long gou* (longDD), 宝哥*bao ge* (Zippp), 光头*guang tou* (QQQ), and so much more, thank you for all the understanding and accepting my shortcomings. Thank you.
The year in VG has been really joyful and fulfilling, from the first time getting the world championship, to rock bottom, then back again to be unstoppable in TI4. I should stop since the rest would only result in tears.
Be it not giving up on team mates or the passion for Dota, I am still me.
After my retirement, I would be a commentator together with BurNIng as well as hosting some LAN events, fans that are interested are free to join us. Maybe we’ll even make a team, for old time’s sake.
And many more surprises to come.
Example, “Hi guys we’re BB, I’m xb (rOtk),” “I’m BurNIng (Big B).” Will you come and watch a show we host!?
I would do my best to promote competitive gaming and make eSports popular!
Lastly, I would like to thank the fans that love and support competitive gaming. All of you have also accompanied me on path of competitive gaming, making me more confident and making my career an exciting one. With all the spare time, I would constantly be participating In-Houses, keep fighting!
** is how you should read the Chinese characters. Honestly, the Chinese have very interesting nicknames.
Being a big fan of Dota 2, I almost shed a tear when doing the translation of both BurNIng and rOtk post.
With two more Chinese competitive players retiring, there might be more fresh faces in the competitive scene soon. Personally, I’m really sad that both BurNIng and rOtk retired. BurNIng is one of, if not, the best carry players not only in China, but internationally as well. His plays has been remarkable and will always be remembered as the best Anti-Mage player out there. rOtk would also be a huge loss in the competitive scene. Vici Gaming has been doing well with rOtk in their roster. Not only is he awesome in game, but he’s so awesome that he even told Loda, another player, to kiss his ass on YouTube, check it!
Both of them will be severely missed in the scene and we would like to wish both of them 一切顺利, which means all the best.
